Are You Connected?
Please help Cherryland Electric Cooperative determine your Internet service needs. We are conducting market research on the need for high-speed fiber Internet service throughout our service area.
What is high-speed fiber Internet service? High-speed fiber Internet offers speeds of 25 Mbps to 100 Mbps for homes. While your current Internet connection may offer some video streaming capability, true high-speed fiber Internet provides for multiple devices to use the high-speed connection at the same time, such as using a streaming TV service while also actively using your mobile device to surf the Internet.

Yes we absolutely need high speed internet from you. I live in blair township and all that is available is Satelite ..hughes net, direct tv, wild blue and they are ALL the worst in the world. My download speed is rarely 4 mbps which is just a hair faster than dialup. I can not watch movies, the news, NO Video online and it just barely functions for any web browsing. The worst part is my plan through hughesnet is the “better” plan and only costs 105$ a month …it is the WORST..Please offer us something better. Just drive around blair township and look how many people are stuck with satelite internet and there are all your new customers.
We are spending much more time at our second home in Empire, about 10 months a year. The only service available is Centurylink which only offers my area 1.5 MBPS and that’s only achievable if the wind is blowing in the right direction. Satellite is not an option because you need a high internet speed to download movies.
So, YES!….YES!..YES!
Cherryland does such an excellent job in providing it’s customer with great service that this new service would be a perfect fit.
I would love another option for Internet. My address is Linda Little 13625 potter rd bear lake mi 49614 I currently have Kaltel in Kaleva and would like a better option.
I am interested in an option that competes with cable, we use multiple computers, smart TV’s and other connected devices, cable seems to be working but does drop connection from time to time, and they don’t have the upload speeds in comparison.
We are connected to DSL through kaleva telephone Company and live in Brethren ( not in village) about a mile out of town. The speed is awful and it seems that the ratio per users has drastically changed as it is so slow the old dial up wasnt much slower. I originally wanted to drop kaltel for the phones and go to cell type service , how ever because I would need a cell booster that has to plug into a internet port I can not do that with out KTC . They truly have a monopoly in the area . Cherryland has provided great elec service to us for over 30 years. The speed you quote is mbps my speed is less than 100 kbps. to just view this site it took over 8 min to bring up the page, and that was after reloading the page 5 times. So YES YES YES I as well would love to see Cherryland do cell service or at the least see them lease to cell company so that boosters could be installed on power poles to help with all the dead zones.
Most definitely need another option that is good and won’t cost an arm and a leg. The only choices I have are satellite or Kaltel.
I live in grawn and would love to have faster Internet offered at my house. Currently only have 1.5 from century link and it’s garage. Would for sure switch in a heart beat.
Please…. for all that is Holy… our household has spent countless hours, days, and months trying collaborate as a family to finally put an end to our 1.5 mbps current speed. It’s at the point where Century Link is literally tearing our family apart. I can’t even look my own mother in the eye anymore without feeling her disappointment towards me. It’s been 12 whole days since the last time we spoke. The last time I tried to reach out to her, she quietly whispered in my ear, “I thought I raised my son better. I thought I raised him better not to give up on our family’s well being.” Please, Cherryland Electric, I’m begging you. All I want is my family to gather around the living room TV and watch our favorite Netflix shows together, without any connection interruptions once again. If you could somehow reach deep down inside your hearts and make my own mother love me again, I will be forever greatful… I just want my family back… You’re our only hope. Please consider.
Fiber? Hell, DSL would be fine too. I want to get away from Charter. You could pick up a lot of clients on Lakes North Drive, Interlochen.
I would love to get faster service through Cherryland. I live by Rennie Lake
and even though there are new subdivisions going up Cable is only available
on the other side of the lake. Hughes is expensive and quits if it rains or snows.
Interested in high speed internet, I feel like I live in the dark ages. I have multiple devices and I am the farthest from the router therefore I can’t load pages or watch streaming movies from netfix and paying a fortune for this service.
I have Acentek and live between Mesick and Copemish.
Im in need of High speed internet. Its to be used for at home work,Hughsnet satellite can not provide a VPN connection that is needed for work,or any other sat or dial up connection. I need it now. Please Hurry.
My family and I are getting tired of AcenTek. It would be great to have something much more worth it. Hopefully we can get this soon!
Our internet is pretty bad. It used to go down a lot and when a tech came out to see why, he said that our internet speed was too fast. So he slowed our internet speed down from 8Mbs and now we only get on average 6Mbs downstream and 0.7mbs upstream. The internet becomes unusable when several people try to use it at the same time. With about 3 smartphones connected to wifi, someone watching news, someone else streaming youtube, and someone else trying to play online games, it just isn’t fast enough.
We are in desperate need of a reasonable , unlimited high speed internet. We live in the boonies and currently have only satellite internet. The kids got tablets from school and we can’t even use it because of the 40 gbs we are allowed . It is not right . We , I feel are being discriminated against because we live where we do. Help please
Thank you
Karin Lerczak
Has anything come of this? We are on Hillside and only have satellite. We NEED faster speeds. We seem to rarely reach 2.0!
We have received the report from the statewide feasibility study and are taking time to analyze them thoroughly. Between the holidays and other pressing issues, the earliest your board of directors will get an opportunity to review the report and decide how to move forward will be at their February 2017 board meeting. Keep a look out for more information at that time.
Hi Cherryland…We have been Directv and Hughesnet customers for a couple of years now. While we like our Directv the Hughes internet is unreliable and extremely slow. It’s like living in central Russia! Additionally, we are paying nearly $300 for these services! If Cherryland could match the 60 MBPS that Charter offers it would be very valuable to us. My wife is currently taking classes at NMC online and is forced to go to the library to attend lectures. That fact rules out any advantage of online classes. We live on Swain Rd. in Traverse City and have 10 neighbors on our street. Charter quoted us $27,000 to run cable back here. Ridiculous! We are all Cherryland customers and would all subscribe to fiberoptic internet. I hope that you will consider bringing it to us.
Oh please yes. There needs to be a better alternative to charter spectrum. We are very impressed with the electric service recieve with you guys. We just yesterday had an outage on our road due to a tree. You guys were right there and had us up very fast. Charter on the other hand said they could send a tech 4 days out. Their service is horrid and unreliable. But they are the only choice we have. Please give us more options..
You’ll never do it… Talk Talk Talk is all people do up north… no action Fiber in N. Michigan? What’s that? Another big company joke..
So are we getting internet?
Hi Meghan – Take a look at the manager’s column “Cherryland’s Future Fiber Plans” from February. It will tell you all you want to know. Thanks!
Yes please!! I live in Grawn and would love to be able to move away from the two options we have for something dependable. I’m waiting with bated breath for fiber! Do you really think you will be able to serve our area starting in 2019?
Hi Dennis – the cooperative made a decision regarding fiber in early 2017. Here is a link to Tony’s column (February 2017) discussing that decision. https://cherrylandelectric.coop/2017/02/fiber-future/
