Anyone who is a member of record, whether or not the member plans to attend our Annual Meeting, may cast a ballot in the 2020 Cherryland Electric Cooperative Board of Directors election. Only one ballot may be cast per membership.
This year you will be voting for one At-Large director and one director from Leelanau County.
Voting opens at 8 a.m. on May 1st.
Members have three voting options in Cherryland’s Board of Directors election. Regardless of the voting option, the first ballot received by our election administrator, Survey & Ballot Systems (SBS), is the ballot that will be counted.
To vote through SmartHub, access your online ballot by logging into your account via our website (voting unavailable via the SmartHub mobile app), select the “Vote Now” button in the upper, right-hand corner of the screen and follow the instructions given on the board election website.
If you do not wish to use SmartHub, go to the board election website, enter your ballot I.D. and election passcode printed on the back of your May issue of Michigan Country Lines (see example to the right) or in the email from SBS, and follow the instructions given on the board election website.
Your web browser’s pop-up blockers may need to be disabled to access the website.
To be counted, online ballots must be cast by 12:00 p.m. on June 10, 2020. For technical support (available Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EDT, excluding holidays), please call 952-974-2339 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Insert the paper ballot into the enclosed postage-paid “Business Reply” envelope both inside the May issue of Michigan Country Lines, seal and mail. Please do not include anything other than the ballot. Additional or replacement mail-in ballots are not available.
Mail-in ballots must be received by June 10, 2020, at Survey & Ballot Systems (SBS) in Eden Prairie, MN.
If you choose to not vote online or by mail, you can vote in person at our office in Grawn from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on June 11, 2020. If you submit either an online ballot or mail-in ballot, you will not receive a ballot at the Annual Meeting.
*As a social distancing measure, we highly encourage you to vote online or by mail in this election to help protect fellow members and co-op employees from the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Join us for this year’s 82nd Annual Meeting from the comfort of your home! In an effort to follow good social distancing practices and help protect co-op members and employees from the coronavirus (COVID-19), the event will consist solely of a virtual business meeting held on June 11 at 5:30 p.m.
We will be broadcasting the business meeting live via the following:
Hear updates about the co-op’s financials, witness the results of the Board of Directors election, and learn more about the co-op you own. As a safety precaution, in-person attendance is prohibited.
This will not have an effect on the Board of Directors election. However, we highly encourage you to consider pre-voting online or by mail between May 1 and June 10. It’s convenient while following good social distancing practices. If you still wish to vote in person on the day of the Annual Meeting, we will be accepting ballots at our Grawn office from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. prior to the business meeting.
